MEN
Cross-border mobility
through the digitization of the request.
The "MEN" project aims to promote a better balance in the labor market in the Sicilian Region/Malta cooperation area by supporting cross-border mobility paths for young people and recent graduates, in particular work placement internships, through the provision of specific vouchers and related support services (administrative, management, user assistance, information, dissemination and capitalization of results, etc.).
WORK INSERTION INTERNSHIP
The internships can be carried out in companies in the cross-border area (micro, small and medium) active in the sectors of the strategy of the Cooperation Program and in particular: Blue economy; Health and quality of life (biotechnology, Mediterranean food and diet, services and networks for human health); Environment protection; Services for sustainable tourism.
The context
A project aimed at supporting mobility paths by definition must be based on an overall approach oriented towards international exchange and cooperation. This is even more true in the case of cross-border cooperation projects where the countries involved are more linked in terms of social, cultural and economic interdependencies. In the specific case of the Italy-Malta area, the two economies express opposing trends in terms of employment opportunities for young people, therefore greater cooperation between the two countries in the field of cross-border mobility could favor a better balance in the labor market. In particular, if it is true that in Sicily the youth unemployment rate is much higher, it is also true that Malta, compared to Sicily, suffers from greater development delays in the priority sectors in the program strategy.
Recipients
The recipients of the mobility vouchers will be 100 young people and recent graduates residing in the cooperation area (approximately 75 in Sicily and 25 in Malta), selected through a specific public tender procedure. In particular, the recipients of this procedure fall into the following categories: unemployed (people who have never had a job and who, at the same time, are looking for work); unemployed (people who no longer have a job but are actively looking for one); disadvantaged individuals (e.g. people with disabilities, immigrants, drug addicts, ex-convicts, etc., of any age).
MOBILITY VOUCHERS
The mobility voucher will have a maximum all-inclusive amount of Euro 12,000 for 6 months of mobility and will be disbursed to the beneficiaries on a monthly basis. The voucher will be deducted pro-rata in the event that the work placement internship is not completed at 100% and will not be recognized in the event that the work placement internship has not reached at least 60% completion. The selected beneficiaries will not be able to receive more than one voucher.
